The Journey

I've always wanted to compile a list of the bikes I've owned.

THIS BLOG POST IS A WORK IN PROGRESS AS I TRY TO COMPILE OLD PHOTOS OF ALL MY BIKES.

From as early as I can remember, I have always wanted a dirt bike. I begged and begged my parents. Finally they had to give in, and they bought our first bike . . . a 1987 Honda Spree that was few years old at the time. Ok it wasn't the dirt bike I had always dreamed of, but it did have 2 wheels and a motor and that was good enough for me. I wore that thing out, but fortunately my dad found two more Honda Sprees (a 1987 and a 1988) at the local dump. So I managed to keep it running with salvaged pieces from my 2 parts bikes. I taught myself that you should NOT rely on starting fluid to get your 2 stroke started. It taught me that tucking in is worth a mile per hour at least. I did my first 12 o'clock wheelie and busted the tail light out on that thing. It was the start of my love for bikes.

1987 Honda Spree. This isn't my original. But it was just as clean as my original. 25mph top speed. When I was 10, I would lay down on the seat like super man for maximum aero. By the end of the street I could hit 32mph.

It's a Baja Motorsports scooter in the back of the photo. Baja was famous for the mini bikes sold thru Pep Boys and other similar retailers. My shop was an authorized repair shop for Baja. That deal was pretty good. They actually paid decent for their warranty work, and there was lots of it. No wonder they are out of business now.
